At Santo Dental Group, we include a thorough oral cancer screening as part of every routine dental exam. Early detection is critical—when caught in its earliest stages, oral cancer has a much higher survival rate.

During your screening, we carefully examine your lips, tongue, cheeks, throat, gums, and the floor and roof of your mouth for any unusual changes. We look for red or white patches, sores that don't heal, lumps, or areas of thickening that may require further evaluation.

The screening is quick, painless, and non-invasive. Most patients don't even realize we're performing it as part of their regular checkup. If we notice anything unusual, we'll discuss it with you and recommend the appropriate next steps, which may include monitoring the area or referring you to a specialist for further testing.

Risk factors for oral cancer include tobacco use, heavy alcohol consumption, HPV infection, and prolonged sun exposure to the lips. However, oral cancer can affect anyone, which is why we screen every patient at every visit.
